I presume “new media” mean blogs and other forms of “info” on the internet.

Your new media is Fox, the blogosphere, Internet, stuff like that. Mainstream is CBS, NBC, ABC all your big Newspapers like the New York Times…yada yada yada. I can tell you that your mainstream media is loosing in ratings and subscribers by the hundreds daily. Mainly due to their far wacko left liberal slant. Most people with half a brain has seen through their constant barrage of doom and gloom and imagined apocalyptic B.S. I turn on the National News on NBC and if I hear it more than 3 seconds my stomach gets to churning and I develop a strong urge to toss my cookies!!!

I think of new media as “alternative media”, and mainstream media as the major known networks. ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc.

Also, “alternative media” includes news reports from overseas. You will find information from alternative media that is not reported by the mainstream media.

The mainstream media today is owned by a small group of corporations, thereby creating a “controlled” media.
